New Crew for Captain Mike

Sorry I haven't been chiming in, but with all of the repairs I have been doing and all of the spares I've been buying and all of the work that has to be done I've had no time . . . BS. I've been a bit lazy . . .

Well I'm very excited to be getting back to our chosen life on Friday and have a very special opportunity this time to share it with ALL new crew. New crew--that is always exciting. I get to teach all the knots over again. I get to go back to "pull the thing over there with the red and white fleck . . . a little more . . . a little faster . . . SLOOOAAANNNE! HELP THEM!" "Can I have that beer now?

No really, I look forward to this crew because they are family and people who want to hang out with this family (nuts!). Let me give you a little background on them.

Marty of "Marty and Sheila":

He's our son, do you need to know any more? Marty spends a lot of his time in the ocean surfing in Jacksonville, Florida and is looking forward to the opportunity to do some reef surfing on Guana and Elbow Cay. With any luck, I won't have to write later to tell you of the scars Marty acquired while tumbling amongst the coral. Marty is also an avid photographer. He has been building a career around this and specializes in surf and surfer photography. He has promised to give us a representation of what he sees while we all hang out together. Maybe with a couple of drinks, he'll see like I do.

Sheila:

Well as you can see, she's a bow rider! What more is there to say? She has the responsibility, as do all women while on a boat, to honor the gods of the sea, Poseidon and Neptune. As long as she helps with that and is sure where Marty is in the morning, we'll all be OK.

Elisha of "Elisha and Donny":

She's our daughter. She has sailed with us before and actually might know where the lines lead . . . but probably not! I know she knows where her bunk is! She always has a smile on and I think is looking forward to some tropical drinks and time in the sun. She's been the surrogate parent to Echo while we travel and has taught him many new tricks while we are away like "Get your nose close to the dinner table" and "If I stay close, maybe you'll drop something good."

Donny:

Well judging from his action shot, I'll bet HE CAN make the golf cart do wheelies (unlike one of our former crew). Don't worry-- "it's a rental." I'm a little worried about letting him drive the boat. I'm going to have to take baby steps with him until I see that everything doesn't have to FLY.

Well, that's the crew for this upcoming trip. I hope they can cook. I know they can drink. This should be interesting.

Digg!

thank you captain mike for the formal introduction! i know i have an awful lot to prove on our upcoming trip to the abacos, and i only hope that i succeed. my last trip from savanah to wrightsville was just a fluke (if that is what you call it) - I just didn't want to make anyone nervous, being it was the first ficalora sail as owners, so i figured that i would just sleep it off for 3 days and all would be okay! as for donny, there is no guarantee he won't try to jump everything in sight - but hopefully the boat, of all things, will be in safe hands! :)

Just two more days of preparation -- then the madness begins.

Sounds like many precious memories are going to be made on the upcoming trip. Wish you all the HAPPIEST of Holidays. May all your WISHES and DREAMS come true.

I'm flying into PR on Dec 27th to meet my PIRATE spent some time island hopping. We are going to do New Years at Foxy's. Will be different for the last 5 years we have done New Years at Jib Room.
Love to all

Toni
